Disciple and Be Discipled

Membership Class

Covenant membership is a commitment to one another—a willing pledge to guard, care, submit, support, and minister together for the building up of our church body.

The purpose of the membership class is to provide an informal setting where the potential member can become acquainted with a pastor and learn about our church.

Some of the pastor's goals for that time include learning how the Lord saved you, confirming that you understand the meaning of church membership, and making sure that there are no biblically warranted concerns with your joining Crossroads as a covenant member.

1-on-1 Discipling

God in His grace has not made us to walk alone in the Christian life.  One-on-one discipling acts as a catalyst to Christian growth, helping us bear one another’s sorrows and joys.

In one-on-one discipling relationships, two Christians of the same sex meet to study Scripture, hold one another accountable, and pray.

Within this basic framework, discipling relationships may take a number of different shapes: an elder member may disciple a younger member, a more mature Christian might disciple a younger Christian, or peers in the faith might effectively disciple one another.

Hospitality

While blessing someone around a table is where hospitality begins, the idea of hospitality in the New Testament is far more than a specific activity– it is a mindset of folding strangers into your life.  Living these kinds of open lives together is a big part of how we create and sustain the hospitable culture of a gospel community.

Whether you are a long-time member or a newcomer to Crossroads, we encourage you to stay around after the service and talk to people you don’t know, make connections with others in the church, and share a meal together.

Small Groups

Small Group involvement is one of our main strategies to instruct, counsel, and mobilize our church. These groups help people connect more deeply, grow in Christian maturity, and spread the gospel in Augusta.

If you consider Crossroads your church home, we strongly encourage you to find a group near you and get connected.

Music

We aim for the music at Crossroads to be a blend of old and new, traditional and contemporary, historic and modern. Our primary criteria for a piece of music are biblical fidelity, theological richness, singability, and corporate edification. Our singing is congregational, which encourages the full and active participation of all present.

Please email Mike Mitchell if you would like to serve in the praise team or Terha Knittel if you would like to serve in the choir.

Children

We recognize the chief vehicle for discipling youth & children is the household. We also note that for the last few generations, this practice has nearly disappeared. It is Crossroads’s desire not to replace the parents but to supplement the work God has called you to. We are here to come alongside parents to equip and assist them in this glorious God-given task of discipling their children.
